To get the full story of Casa de Dios Monte Sión, it’s important to understand the testimony of their lead pastor, Pastor Raúl. Raúl was caught up in gang activity and battling drug addiction when he was placed in a rehab center. While he was in the rehab center for 40 days, he had an encounter with Jesus. He listened to the Holy Spirit and gave his life to Christ. Once he got out, he continued on the right path and attended church, where he learned scripture and deepened his faith. One year later, he returned to the rehab center to preach, and the center welcomed him in. He started with just two women, a pre-teen girl and her grandmother, but it was a start. More than three years later, they officially organized their church and have made it their mission to reach their community and help meet the needs their neighbors have day to day. They focus on reaching those who are struggling with drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution, divorce, and more, since many of those in the congregation have been through the same journey. During the time in 2009 when Pastor Raúl was preaching at the rehab center, he met his future wife, and she serves alongside him, spreading the love of Christ at her full-time job and assisting at the church.
